Freddie... What is he exactly?

by Phoebe
I can't remember if I have told you about the family of characters for our next book, but I wanted to show you a photo.  Around here, we like to talk about animal characters and names, knitting patterns and ideas quite a bit.  While discussing the second knitting picture book, several different animal characters were mulled over.  There was one special animal that Mother and Father kept talking about over and again.  One day, Father showed her this photo...
and right then and there the discussion stopped.  It was THE one, and ever since they have been eagerly developing this neat character.  I have never seen a platypus before, and hear that Freddie has a sister, so I am doubly excited to meet them!

  1. Oh the platypus are just gorgeous. Their actual name is ornithorincus (not sure about the spelling though) and are found up in the Yarra Valley in Victoria too. We have seen them at the Melbourne Zoo where their whole tank is in the dark and you can see them swimming around! I cant wait to see your next book as I loved the first one so much. I just need to knit up the pattern now.

  2. Oh geez, you just added another thing to my drool list! How long until the next book?
I will try to be patient. :)

  3. We are working into the wee hours to get the next book done! The knitting patterns are finished (there will be four new patterns) and the photos are done... but there is still more to do! We aim to launch in early 2011, and can't wait to share it! Maybe I will release some sneak peeks here on the blog over the next couple of months...
