Anthology Book Co

by Phoebe
Anthology Book Co is an independent bookshop in Loveland, Colorado.  It has a beautiful selection of both new and used books, including rare books and even a lovely room for children's clothing, toys, gifts, and of course, books.

Now this is a room I could spend a nice long afternoon in!

Here I am all ready to meet some new knitters and readers!

A few evenings ago, Mother met Ceci, a brand-new knitter, at her local yarn shop.  Unfortunately, Ceci had to work tonight and couldn't come to the signing... but her mother was there with bells on, ready to pick up a book for her knitting daughter.
 Keep knitting, Ceci!

Colorado friends Rylee and Veronica joined us, too.  Rylee seemed to think my doll blanket was "just right," and it is always wonderful to see family friends at a book signing.  Thanks for coming!

We had a great conversation with Madeline, an young artist who we think will be going places someday soon!

Diane, another new knitter, and her daughter Sarah enjoyed a little time together reading Phoebe's Sweater at the shop...
And Sarah made sure I had my blanket, too!

Knitty.com Review!

Have you seen the newest issue of Knitty?  Jillian Moreno did a wonderful review of Phoebe's Sweater in their First Fall 2010 issue.  To check it out, click here and scroll down to read some great book reviews!  Thanks for the review, Knitty, how very exciting for us here at Slate Falls Press!

"The Road Home" Scarf

by Phoebe
Have you seen this pattern from Churchmouse Yarns & Teas?  While on book tour, Mother was given the pattern for the scarf along with three skeins of yarn to create the project.  So... the journey home to Colorado from New Jersey, which allowed for a lot of knitting time, will be told by the knitting of the scarf.

A few parting moments from the farm...

by Phoebe
Isn't this little tree house just perfect for me?  I would be happy to move right in anytime.

Grandmother's gooseneck loosestrife.  I just think that is one of the best flower names ever!

Independence Hall and Liberty Bell!

Happy 4th of July!
It only seemed appropriate today to share some photos from my recent visit to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia!

Happy Independence Day!

Spool Sewing Shop

by Phoebe
Right next door to Loop yarn shop is Spool fabric shop.  What a great idea that is!  Laura is very helpful and Spool is stocked with lovely fabric and patterns.

I just think this little raincoat is so sweet.

It was hard to pick from all of the lovely fabric... but in the end, Mother did choose a pretty raspberry colored floral fabric and a pattern from Oliver + S:

The Jump Rope Dress.
Their children's patterns go up in size to 8 and 12, which is really nice for anyone who wants to sew something classic and sweet for an older child.  Sister will have a lot of fun in this dress!

Loop~ Philadelphia

by Phoebe
Here I am at Loop in Philadelphia.  I have been looking forward to visiting this shop for weeks, and immediately fell in love with the beautiful displays of yarn, just waiting to be knit up into something special!  I just love all of the colors of yarn so nicely lined up.
We had a nice group of knitters and readers show for the book signing, and it was fun as always to meet the youngest readers.
Meg, an aspiring young authoress, drove all the way from Virginia with her mother for the book signing.  Nice to meet you, keep on writing, Meg!
I got to peek into this knitting mom's bag, and let me tell you, this is one lucky family!  I saw project after project carefully knit, with beautiful yarn, for the sweet and beautiful kiddos you see here.  It was great to meet you!
Another young reader, eager for her own Phoebe Mouse doll!
Yvette stayed to visit and knit all afternoon, what a fun gal!
Ryan and "T" with Father, old friends meet up again.  These two happy dads were roommates and played in a band together in Philly 15 years ago~ it was great to see you after all of these years!
Craig, thank you for inviting us to your shop.  We hope to come back again sometime when our second book is released, thanks for everything!
