Spin-Off Fall 2012 Cover Shawl and Giveaway

by Joanna

Last fall I began learning how to spin. Inspired by our daughter, and enabled encouraged by some of my very talented fiber-y friends (Amy, Karen, Anne... you know who you are) I started playing with wool on an entirely different level. My newest pattern, A Gift From Laurel, was published in the Fall 2012 issue of Spin-Off. As if that wasn't enough of a self-pinching-surprise on its own, it also made the cover. It has been a delightful journey into the world of spinning. I hope it is just the beginning for me, I am already planning more and more... and more.

A Gift from Laurel, Spin-Off Fall 2012

Lambkin superwash merino, from Enchanted Knoll Farm

The fun part! I have an extra copy of the Fall 2012 Spin-Off to give away. Even if you aren't a spinner (yet), there is a lot to love about the newest issue.

This drawing is now closed. Congratulations to our winner~ Scarlet at Huckleberry Knits!

    1. Thank you, Deb! Maybe it was because I am "out of context" in Spin-Off, right? Hope you are enjoying the beginning of the fall season!

  16. It's pretty addictive, isn't it? And then when you can make something just that pretty with your very own handspun yarn... well... that's just icing on the cake! :)

  26. That's great Joanna, I jump on the boat to try spinning had 1 lesson and ordered a lady bug. I'm still learning to get it right. I don't have anyone close by to really show me what I'm doing wrong or right. I've got so much fluff around here to spin I think my husband thinks it's cat hair haha. It's pretty neat that you have already made something with what you have spun. I would love that magazine with your shawl in it. I'm working on the party dress for Lilly the only problem I'm having is twisted stitches from the beginning, I've had to rip out 3 times:( I think once I get past that I'll be ok. Keep up the good work I'm following you. Plus I still need to send the book in for you to sign it. Dolo
