Debbie Macomber and Kit Hutchin Review Phoebe's Sweater!

by Phoebe
A very special trio of knitters ~ Debbie Macomber (bestselling author), Kit Hutchin (of Churchmouse Yarns and Teas) and Mary Neill (of America's Knitting) were kind enough to review Phoebe's Sweater, the new knitting picture book from Slate Falls Press.  You may read the reviews here at America's Knitting.  Mother may not want me to say this, but I think I heard her squeeee when she opened her email!  Thank you, Debbie, Kit, and Mary, from the entire Johnson family at Slate Falls Press!

Wednesday

Time to enjoy the flowers!

by Phoebe It has been quite exciting to be a part of the Phoebe's Sweater book tour!  It is nice to meet so many knitters and friends at yarn shops, libraries, and schools... but it is also nice to stop on this beautiful spring day and enjoy the flowers!

Monday

Book Signing at My Sister Knits

by Phoebe
My Sister Knits is a lovely yarn shop in the charming City Park neighborhood of Ft. Collins. Pretend you have a best friend who has a beautiful home with gorgeous flower beds, a quaint chicken house with pretty chickens, and a carriage house in the back yard. Then pretend that carriage house is packed to to the roof with fabulous yarn and books... up to the sweet attic alcoves full of fiber. That is what going to My Sister Knits is like! I stayed very close to Kate's delicious brownies that day, and met a lot of nice knitting grandmas, too! I think a lot of little girls will be getting a copy of Phoebe's Sweater for Christmas this year! Mother had a great time meeting everyone, and had some time to sit and chat with the circle of knitters, too. A great day!

Thursday

Prairie Ridge Elementary School

by Phoebe
What a fun day I had with the kids at Prairie Ridge Elementary School in Frederick, Colorado!  It was "Educational Opportunity Day" today, and I tagged along with Mother who did a little talk about being an author and following your dreams.  She also taught a story-writing workshop with the kids and they came up with some pretty creative ideas!  It was nice to meet so many great kids!

Wednesday

Kids' Knitting Club at the Library

by Phoebe
Our local library has a great weekend knitting club for kids.  I went for a visit recently and sat with Lisa while she read Phoebe's Sweater to an eager group of young knitters.  The girls enjoyed the story and the illustrations, but were particularly interested in the knitting patterns and Phoebe's knitted sweater.  My favorite part was playing with all of the handmade toys... and seeing a unicorn for the first time!

This young woman, who is quite the clever knitter, is wearing a dress and hat, all of her own creation!

Monday

Book Launch part 1

by Phoebe
The book launch this weekend was the most fun I have ever had!  Knitters and non-knitters alike came to Woolen Treasures Yarn Shop to celebrate the launch of Phoebe's Sweater by Joanna and Eric Johnson!  The author and artist were too busy to take many pictures... but a dear friend stepped up to do so... and so there will be another post to show more photos soon!

Friday

Woolen Treasures

by Phoebe
This week, I am spending a few days at Woolen Treasures Yarn Shop in Loveland, Colorado.  The launch party for Phoebe's Sweater will be held here on Saturday, and I am just hanging out here waiting for the fun to begin!  I got a little bored just sitting here on the table...
So I climbed up the shelves and went yarn-diving...
and met a friend, who, despite his dangerous-looking teeth, is really a rather friendly little monster!

Tuesday

Mr. Robot my friend

by Phoebe I have to confess I was a little concerned when a package came in the mail containing a kit to knit a robot.  Although I consider myself quite friendly, I wasn't too sure about having a robot for a friend!  But, there is something special about a yarn robot, and we hit it off right away.  Yes, I think we are going to be friends.

Monday

Something simple for baby

by Phoebe I went to a baby shower for the very first time this weekend.  It was a perfect afternoon, and just a pleasant simple time among friends, old and new.  A few sweets, some tea and coffee, and just a circle of conversation on a beautiful spring day.  I really liked it!  This little hand knit sweater was just right- something sweet and practical for baby!

Saturday

The last of the books...

by Phoebe The last of the books are now safe and sound in storage here at Slate Falls Press.  It has been an exciting week bringing the books to shops, thanking test knitters and friends who helped behind the scenes on the project, and filling our first week's worth of orders.  Mother and Father wanted me to say to each of you who encouraged them while they were creating Phoebe's Sweater...     Thank You!

Wednesday

They're here!

by Phoebe
After months of hard work and anticipation, the shipment of Phoebe's Sweater arrived yesterday!
We brought several cases home in the car.  Then Mother packed up books to mail to family and friends, test knitters and our tech editor, the yarn company people and the many others who helped behind the scenes.  Then I got to go to the big city with Mother!  We visited a very nice yarn shop, then went to the book distributor's warehouse:
Here I am at the warehouse- kind of like a big store full of books!  Even though the books only arrived today, the distributor has already sold half of the shipment we delivered- how neat!  What an exciting day!

Friday

Books are on the truck!

by Phoebe
Happy news!  One hundred boxes containing hot-off-the-presses copies of Phoebe's Sweater are on a truck heading our way right now... We are all eager to see the book, and can't wait until they arrive next week!
